LAA ANNUAL EVENTS

General Membership Luncheons
Almost every month, the Lubbock Apartment Association hosts a luncheon at a local venue. All members are encouraged to attend. These luncheons are a great way to meet other individuals in the multi-family housing industry and learn about the activities happening in the association. The meetings are fun and informative events. There is a special program with a speaker at each meeting.

State of the City
The Lubbock Apartment Association is thrilled every year to have the Mayor of Lubbock give the State of the City Address to our membership. LAA has hosted the State of the City Address for over 20 years and welcomes the entire city of Lubbock to attend. The luncheon is the first opportunity for the Mayor to recap the city’s condition and highlight activities from the previous year. In 2004, we had over 450 attend this event.

Education Conference & Trade Show
Each fall the Lubbock Apartment Association hosts an Education Conference and Trade Show for its membership. The Education Conference provides top ranked seminars that cover a variety of topics for both management personnel and maintenance technicians. There is also a motivational seminar that everyone is invited to attend, including Product / Service Members. (Take Space Out) The Trade Show is a great opportunity for businesses to showcase their products and services to our membership. Typically, the Trade Show is a daylong event that brings in over 300 members to view the booths on exhibit. The Trade Show is a fun and entertaining event with a different theme each year.

Business Exchange
The Business Exchange is a unique event that allows businesses to have one-on-one interaction with apartment industry leaders. It has been described as a ‘reverse trade show’. Each participating business member has approximately 10 minutes with each decision maker to discuss his or her products and services. The event is currently scheduled for every other year.

Golf Tournament and Casino Night
A Golf Tournament is held at a local country club every spring. This is a fun day for golfers and a great opportunity to network. The day is packed with different activities and opportunities for you to market your company. In the evening, a casino party is held. Members that do not participate in the golf tournament are invited to come eat dinner and play casino games. Raffles are held and prizes are given away throughout the evening.

Installation and Award Ceremony
At the beginning of the year, the Lubbock Apartment Association holds its annual Installation and Award Ceremony. This is an elegant evening where you have the opportunity to dress your best and eat great food. This event highlights the past year’s activities and leadership achievements. The Texas Apartment Association President installs the new Board of Directors and officers. The highly anticipated Manager of the Year and Maintenance Technician of the Year awards are also presented.

‘Magic of Giving’ Holiday Food Drive
Each fall, association members team up to make a difference in the community with the ‘Magic of Giving’ Holiday Food Drive. Everyone comes together to help collect food and money for the South Plains Food Bank. Apartment communities collect food from residents, while businesses try to collect food from customers. This event is a great success each year.

Housing Fair
The Lubbock Apartment Association hosts a Housing Fair at Texas Tech University. This is a wonderful opportunity for rental communities to market their properties to Texas Tech University students, facility, and staff. Each participant has a booth and is able to hand out information and gifts to over 1,000 attendees. This is a very fun and festive event with a theme, activities, and prizes. Both the students and the apartment representatives look forward to this great event each year!
