Fall Inspired "Crocktails"

The fall season calls for everything warm from hot chocolate, chicken and dumpling soup to flannels and fuzzy socks. With crockpots being the temple of autumn-inspired food preparation, they are always on the counter after a slow cooked soup or roast. Don’t put them up just yet, though. Your crockpot can do a lot more than you think. We introduce to you: “Crocktails”-- cocktails made with the ease of a crockpot.

From silky flavors of chocolate or the warm tastes of cinnamon, here are a couple of recipes to please all pallets.

Nutella Hot Chocolate


  • 1 Cup of Nutella
  • ¼ Cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 6 ½ Cups of skim milk
  • 1 (14 oz) can of sweetened condensed milk
  • ¼ Teaspoon of salt
  • 1 Tablespoon of vanilla extract


  1. Spray slow cooker with cooking spray
  2. Pour and whisk all ingredients into pot thoroughly
  3. Cover and heat on low for two hours
  4. Whisk and serve

Cranberry Apple Cider


  • 1 Liter of unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1 Liter of pure unsweetened apple juice
  • 2 Cups of pure unsweetened orange juice
  • ⅛ Teaspoon of ground cloves
  • 3 Whole Cinnamon Sticks
  • ½ Cup of Sugar, Stevia, Splenda, or Honey


  1. Pour in all ingredients into crockpot and stir
  2. Cook on low for four hours
  3. Pour and serve (Leftovers can be refrigerated)

Coconut Hot Chocolate


  • 2 (14 oz) Cans of sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 (13 oz) Cans of full-fat coconut milk
  • 8 Ounces of dark chocolate, chopped
  • ¼ Cups of dutch process cocoa powder
  • 2 Teaspoons of coconut extract
  • 2 Teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • Whipped cream or coconut whipped cream
  • Marshmallows


  1. Spray slow cooker with cooking spray
  2. Pour in coconut milk, condensed milk, and extracts to your slow cooker
  3. Whisk in cocoa powder, salt, and chocolate
  4. Cover and cook on low for two hours
  5. Pour, top with whipped cream and marshmallows.

Maple Pumpkin Spice Lattes


  • 4 Cups of coffee or espresso
  • 8 Cups of 1% or 2% milk
  • ¾ Cup of maple syrup
  • ¾ Cup of canned pumpkin
  • 2 Tablespoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 Tablespoon + 1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice


  1. Combine all ingredients in your slow cooker and stir.
  2. Cover and cook on high for two hours
  3. Pour and serve

All of these delicious fall inspired “crocktails” are best served with the company of friends and flannels and they will leave your home smelling wonderful! Happy Fall!
